Ferran Savall
Ferran Savall is a self-taught vocalist in search of a natural voice. His main influences are Afro-American music, soul and gospel, but he has also explored world music: from Brazil, Pakistan, India and Africa, among others, always avoiding specialisation in any one style while seeking out new techniques to incorporate into his own voice.
He took his first steps as a singer and performer in the public squares and streets of the Gràcia district of Barcelona and at the bar SiNo –which sadly no longer exists- owned by the Venezuelan writer Armando Luigi Castaneda.
In 2004 he began performing professionally with his family, which led to the recording of the album Du temps & de l’instant, a programme the Savalls went on to perform in concerts all over the world.
Since 2005 he has worked with the Indian dancer and choreographer Shantala Shivalingappa on various projects alongside musicians such as Chitravina N.
