Salk, who has made it painfully clear that his time in Boston was a disaster, took another shot at WEEI during his broadcast this week.
WEEI afternoon host Mike Salk, who was on thin ice at the struggling sports station for months, announced his departure yesterday, leaving his afternoon drive show for “another opportunity,” according to a station memo.
“Today was Mike Salk’s last show on WEEI,” said the missive from Entercom suit Kevin Graham.
“We thank him for his hard work and wish him the best.”
Salk tweeted last night that he decided to leave ’EEI “for a new and unique opportunity.”
“I will have more details on my future (this) afternoon,” he said.
The station, which has been losing the ratings war to rival The Sports Hub, has not named a replacement to yak about the Sox, Pats, B’s and Celts with Mike Holley.
The plan is to team him up with “a rotation of cohosts” until a permanent partner is found, Graham’s memo says.
Salk’s departure was not unexpected. New Entercom boss Phil Zachary openly discussed rep
