An ice-cool Texan with a Fender Stratocaster and a black cowboy hat, Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the most influential musicians of the 80s.
With his band Double Trouble, he spearheaded a blues revival during the era of Duran Duran and MTV, attracting attention from the likes of David Bowie and Eric Clapton along the way.
It was the latter who invited Vaughan and Double Trouble to support him at a pair of shows at the Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin, in August 1990.
Within minutes of leaving the venue, he was dead, victim of a calamitous helicopter crash.
